These unique interpretations
of Sacred Hearts are made from a variety of found objects, as well as, an assortment of nails, wire, varied modeling compound,
old jewelry, paints beads and threads.
Each one is made with no pre-planning. The materials provide the inspiration. Some of these Sacrd Hearts are based on the
Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Heart of the Seven Sorrows and the symmbol of St. Augustine of Hippo.
About 15 years ago I was sitting in my apartment with a bunch
of rusty nails that I had collected and glanced at a picture of Jesus with a Sacred Heart and I thought how well the nails
would represent rays of light. I created the first sacred heart out of those nails, wire, my grandfather's shrunken wool sweater
and some small dried roses. (See pic below.) I continue to create unique Sacred Hearts and welcome any and all custom requests
you may have. For example, incorporating a reminder of a loved one or personal token of luck or blessings within the design
itself.
